The Francis Family

Celine is a widow who has supported her daughters over the years despite her health issues. However, as her youngest daughter nears the completion of her education, Celine has reached her limits. Repeated monsoons have destroyed her livelihood and her oldest daughter’s wedding has left Celine in debt.

Your sponsorship would allow Celine to purchase medications she needs, pay her daughter’s tuition for 11th grade, and make repairs to re-open the store she has run for many years.

Celine is a widowed mother who has spent the last ten years raising two daughters on her own. Her husband died from an illness in 2005, leaving her as the sole caregiver and provider for the family. A local charity provided her with a modest home and Celine was able to run a small shop from the house that provided the family with enough income to survive.

Despite her hard work, however, each year the family’s situation has become more difficult. The shop that Celine operates has degraded with each passing monsoon, and is now in danger of collapse. Celine’s asthma has worsened over time and she has not been able to pay for the medications that would keep it at bay.

On top of this, Celine’s oldest daughter was finally married last year; this was a happy but expensive occasion as families in India are still expected to pay for their daughters to be married. Celine had to take out loans just to afford the union. Her oldest daughter is now happily settled, but Celine and her younger daughter, Thresia, are left in financial peril.

Thresia has completed school through the 10th grade, but Celine can no longer afford her tuition. A sponsor for this family would ensure that Thresia is able to finish the last years of her education and Celine’s medical needs are addressed. A small commitment to this family would make a lasting difference in their lives.
