Jayalakshmi’s story:

Jayalakshmi is a fifteen year old orphan living with her grandparents. She lost her parents to HIV and is infected herself.  Jayalakshmi attends school but she misses her parents and is often depressed and then fails to remember her medications. Her grandparents worry about her. They are doing their best to provide for their granddaughter but they are aging and can no longer do heavy work.

With a sponsor, the grandparents can now take up rearing poultry and goats on their property and have a reliable source of income. This will mean Jayalakshmi will be assured of daily sustenance and gain the strength she needs to deal with her illness.
