The Franciscan Family Apostolate (FFA) was founded, in 1971, on the vision of Saint Francis of Assisi best expressed in his words “Let us preach always the gospel…and use words only when necessary;” it is a shortened version of the great admonition of Isaiah describing true religion and what fasting is acceptable to God. ““This is my chosen fast: Share your bread with the hungry, take the homeless into your homes, clothe the naked when you see them, do not turn away from people in need. Then cleansing life shall break forth like the dawn, and your wounds shall soon be healed…” (Isaiah 58.6). The Franciscan Family Apostolate’s mission is to encourage a witness to the Gospel life through the care and concern for the stranger in need regardless of race, color, religion or country of origin.
