Sravani is a 25-year old widow with two children and no home of her own. She currently lives with her aging parents. She was widowed when her husband, a very hard-working young man, suffered through undiagnosed jaundice and eventually died of complications.
As is the custom in this area, upon her husband’s death she and her children were abandoned by his family and she returned to live with her own family. Despite their poverty her family accepted them with open arms. Her sickly parents welcomed her home, and her sister and brother try to provide for them. Still, there is very little income to support so many people.
For now the children are growing up in a home filled with love, and the aid of a sponsor could ensure the family can stay together in this way. Sravani has been resilient in the face of tragedy and accepts the challenges before her. She has a plan to open a small shop at her parent’s home, and her mother will be able to help in this endeavor.
