Veera is a sweet young woman who was widowed at just 22 years of age. Her husband, a kind man who Veera loved deeply, died of cancer. All of their savings was spent on his treatment, and when he died Veera’s only solace was their beautiful son, now 7. With her son she moved back to her mother’s home and began the life of a young widow. Life was hard – she had to work to provide for herself, her mother, and her child – and Veera struggled. She found work as a shop girl in a garment store, but only has a reliable income when sales increase during the holiday season. The rest of the year she relies on odd jobs. Her predicament became even more difficult when her mother was forced to sell their home. Now Veera, her elderly mother, and her young son live in a small rented room and do not know where their next meal will come from. These are hard working people suffer from a cruel twist of fate, and need only the support of a sponsor to get back on their feet.
