Appla is a mother with cancer whose husband, Bhavani, is also ill. They live in a small dilapidated hut and have struggled with poverty all of their lives. Their hut has no electricity or running water. Their roof is made of leaves that must be replaced after each monsoon season.

They have three children, one of whom, Ashok, has already had to drop out of school to help support the family. With his mother’s cancer, at age 17 he is the sole wage earner for the family.

If someone decides to sponsor this family, the FFA can work with the family to find decent housing, get some vocational training for Ashok, and help keep the other two children in school.
