Lawrence was in a terrible accident six years ago where he was hit by a vehicle while riding his bicycle home from work. He has not been able to work since then. Mary goes for odd jobs as she can manage but the family has no regular income.
The two girls are progressing in their studies in the 7th and 4th grades. Unfortunately, their parents cannot do much to support the girls in their education. The hut where they live is dillapidated and floods when it rains. The children often do not have enough to eat.
