This is the touching story of a devoted couple who have become overwhelmed by circumstances beyond their control. Lonan and Soumya live in the Indian state of Kerala. Lonan has always gone for either fishing or tile paving work when available. Soumya has also gone for odd jobs. However, they have always struggled to make ends meet and the family lives in a small hut made of tin sheeting.
Lonan and Soumya are parents to a nine-year-old daughter, Agreema, and their toddler son, Dias. Agreema is a bright and healthy girl. She attends the local public school, where she is in third grade. The entire family was filled with happiness upon Dias’s birth in 2022. However, their joy turned to anguish as Dias encountered significant health challenges. Dias was diagnosed with a heart condition as a baby, and he suffers from seizures and kidney problems. His parents have been tirelessly seeking treatment for their son, but their journey has been filled with hardships. The FFA staff report that Dias, “will be in great pain for many days,” and his parents “take him from one hospital to another” trying to find help. These episodes stop Lonan from going for work and drain the family’s savings. Where they once looked forward to a bright future for both of their children, they are now consumed with worry about providing for both of their children.
A sponsor for this family would mean an additional flow of funds each month that could help with food, medication, and better housing to give their children the bright future they once dreamed of.
