Janani is a sickly young mother unable to provide for her two tiny children. They live in terrible conditions.
With the help of a sponsor, she could start a small business selling rice in her village and be better able to feed their children and improve their living conditions. (To learn more about how the sponsorship program in Andhra Pradesh works, click here.)

Katta Janani is a poor deserving young woman in her village. She lives adjacent to a Government colony, in a waste land, in a dilapidated hut which may give way at any time. Janani and her husband, Apparao, suffer from the effects of HIV/AIDS. Apparao is very weak and suffering from acute tuberculosis. He is unable to go for any odd jobs. The couple have two children. The elder boy, Gunasekhar, is aged two. Thoyaja, the youngest, is a daughter and an infant of three months.
Poverty and misery creates insecurity in this family’s life. The couple requires special medical attention, nourishing food, care and support. If proper attention and care were given, they could recoup their health and be a great support to their little ones. Their parents assist the young couple with support and encouragement so to come up in life as they can but they are aged and sickly and are limited in what they can do .
The hut where the family lives is truly pathetic. The roof of the house is made of asbestos sheeting; the walls are covered with plastic materials which are worn-out partially. The hut consists of two rooms, electrified according to the village system. Public water is available adjacent to their house. Cooking is done outside the house in a corner. Janani and her husband are unable to place any application for any house loan because in any scheme of the government the participant must be able to contribute and the life situation of this family makes this impossible.
If a sponsor comes forth, Janani could sell rice and necessary food stuffs and enjoy the rare privileges offered by the FFA to reach the goal of self-reliance. This would in turn be a blessing to this family to earn their livelihood and reach self reliance in near future. They could recoup their health and live a life with human dignity. She will be ever grateful if any one willingly comes forward to give a helping hand. Any help given to them will be greatly appreciated.
