Lakshmi is a poor widow who needs a helping hand after the tragic loss of her husband.
Lakshmi was married to Ramu, a hard-working and ambitious young man. Ramu worked odd jobs to provide for his family, and also partnered with his brother to build a proper home for his young family. Together Lakshmi and Ramu had two children: daughter Mounika, 12, and son Rajesh, 8. Their home was always filled with the laughter of the children and their loving parents.
This all changed when Ramu was hit and killed by a car near his home. Since then this once happy family has struggled to make ends meet. Their home, only partially completed, has become a place of quiet sadness.
But Lakshmi will not give up. She would like to start a small home-based shop as is common in this area. The shop would provide the family with income while also allowing her to remain at home to care for her children. The support of a sponsor would allow her to pursue this dream and put this family back on their feet.
