Venkata lives a difficult life, undergoing regular dialysis for kidney disease. Both she and her husband are HIV positive and unable to go for steady jobs so the family lives in poverty. You can learn more of Venkata’s story below.
Venkata dreams of being able to support their two teenage children by raising chickens and goats on their small piece of land. With the support of a sponsor, Venkata could do this through the FFA’s Resource program. (To learn more about the Andhra Family Sponsorship program, click here.)

Family Members:
Venkata Lakshmi Sarampudi, 39 years
Trimuthalu Sarampudi, 42 years, husband
Diviyasri Sarampudi, 17 years, daughter
Jayadeedu Sarampudi, 14 years, son
Andhra Region
Venkata and Trimuthalu are a loving couple living in the small village of Ramachandrapuram in the East Godavari District of Andhra Pradesh. They are blessed with two children, Diviyasri who is 17 and Jayadeedu who is 14. Both children attend nearby government schools.
Life is difficult for the Sarampudi family. Both Venkata and Trimuthalu are HIV positive and Venkata also suffers from kidney disease and undergoes dialysis. Both parents are limited for work to odd jobs that are not too physically challenging, so they struggle to bring in enough for the family to live on.
The family has a little land and is trying to build a house under a government subsidy program that will have two rooms, a kitchen, and a veranda. It is taking time to complete and they currently live in a temporary house adjacent to the construction.
Venkata’s dream is to be able to raise chickens and goats on their land. With the help of a sponsor, this would be possible. Venkata could participate in the FFA’s Resource Program available to sponsored families in Andhra. The program would provide the funds to raise animals and the resulting income would finally allow this poverty stricken family to meet their urgent needs and live more comfortably with food to eat and funds for medications. It would help the two children to do well in their classes and prepare for jobs that would allow them to care for parents.
