Imagine being a mother to five children, all of whom have done well in their studies, while living in dire poverty. Then imagine that two of your children are suffering from disease where you cannot afford all the medications to cure them. That is the saga of Jermaine Majhi.
She and her husband had five children while living in a remote village in the state of Odisha. It is a difficult area where many depend on the mountains to find food in. Their five children, despite living in poverty, have always worked hard in school. Their only son now studies for his B.A.
Jermaine and her husband now face the difficult situation where two of their daughters have been diagnosed with tuberculosis. One is seriously ill. Both require expensive medicines the family cannot afford.

You can read more of their story here. They live in the Andhra Pradesh region and if they are sponsored, they could participate in the FFA’s Resource program and begin to raise small animals on their family land. The monthly support of a sponsor would be a welcome blessing and help them in rearing their children.
